Ultimate Medical Academy provides extensive training for students looking to provide therapeutic massage in spas, resorts, hotels, chiropractic centers and other medical facilities. The program can prepare students for a variety of paths, including working as a massage therapist and maintaining a wellness program for clients - or even starting their own related business. Students will learn the basic therapeutic applications of massage in addition to the theory and practice of Allied Therapeutic Modalities. Students will train in a clinical setting as both the massage therapist and the client, and practice on local community members to gain the valuable hands on experience that makes students even more competitive to employers. Massage is one of the oldest forms of therapy and, at its simplest, is a system of stimulating different areas of the body in order to relieve pain, relax, soothe, and tone. The practice does much more than create a pleasant sensation on the skin - it also works on the soft tissues (muscles, tendons, and ligaments) to improve muscle tone. Although it largely affects those muscles located just under the skin, its benefits may also reach deeper layers and possibly even organs themselves. Massage also stimulates blood circulation and assists the lymphatic system (which runs parallel to the circulatory system).
Other benefits of massage include the ease of tension, stiffness, and pain; improving breathing, circulation, and overall health and well-being. Although a single massage will be enjoyable, the effects are cumulative and a course of massage treatments will provide the maximum benefit to a subject. Regular treatments can help prevent unnecessary strains and injuries that might otherwise occur due to excess tension and resulting structural weaknesses. Depending upon the individual, massage can stimulate and calm the nervous system - thus helping to reduce fatigue and leaving the recipient with a feeling of replenished energy. Massage has the potential to restore the vitality of a subject physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Upon completion of the massage therapy program, UMA graduates will receive a Certificate. They will be qualified to sit for the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork Exam, and can receive a State License once successfully passing the National Certification exam. Graduates can look forward to job placement in chiropractic offices, orthopedic offices, family practices, spas, gyms, cruise ships, or salons. Ultimate Medical Academy also provides job placement assistance for UMA graduates.
Ultimate Medical Academy faculty and staff are all experienced in their fields, so they are knowledgeable about the community, industry, and student needs. Click here for more information
